Here in Wisconsin, the paper industry was one of the catalysts for growth at the turn of the last century. Almost all of them would build their factories along the river to tap into the water and power source as well as the natural transportation route the river allowed.

The cream brick buildings here were paper mills for decades until the paper companies moved on to greener pastures. Then they sat dormant for years and are now swanky apartment buildings.
