Shooting with Houser

img_hou.jpg

So last night we got back from 9 rain-soaked days in the Nord'East. One of the highlights was hanging with Houser in his stomping grounds of Portland, Maine. He gave us the tour and we had a great time picking each other's brains.

I've got somewhere around 9 gigs of RAW files from the trip to review which equals almost 1,000 shots. Not only is the workflow of processing the RAW files time consuming, since I'm shooting mostly with my new rig (Canon 350D aka Digtal Rebel XT w/battery grip) all of the RAW files are in the CR2 format which means that I either had to process them in the Canon Software (which sucks) or in PS CS2 (which I don't have until next week) But then I remembered that I can convert them to DNG and then open them within PS CS and use their RAW interface. Where I'm going to get the time to go through them, I don't know.

Also used the Apple iPod Photo Connector quite extensively on this trip and have some thoughts about that little baby which I'll post later in the week. Until then...

The latest Capture One version supports 350D files now! Once you go C1, you will never go back ;)

These photographs are great, Brad, the one on the left is incredibly crisp. And it's nice to get to see a master at work. Where were these shots taken exactly? (Houser?) We have something similar here in Seattle . . . I'll have to get down there and 'snap' some boats. . .

Dangit - I knew it was coming. I feel uncomfortable in front of the lens and don't think this even looks like me. I mean it does, but it doesn't. Does that make any sense.

Sorry you rolled craps on the weather while you were here, man. But on the upside, you missed the black flies!

Myla- A agree that the one on the left is crisper and shrper, the weather was just like Seattle (my birthplace and home of the greatest radio staion on earth, KEXP)

It was damp, foggy, and basically just annoying enough to be out there, but still a pain the the butt enough to be cleaning your lens and in my case glasses envery 3 or 4 shots.

Houser- you think that looks bad? At least you don't look like some goofy ventriloquist!

Jasper - I'll look into Capture One, that's the first I've heard of it.

damn houser, you're shorter than i imagined!

if you make it to germany (or better yet, london for the 2005 european photobloggers meetup!) i'll extend the same offer as houser - that goes for anyone.

(ahem, oktoberfest is quickly approaching, hinthint)
