cloudscape

img_1919.jpg

The light and could formations were incredible on my way home last night. I'm driving down the highway at 80 miles an hour to get home, already late for dinner. Pointing my camera at this storm system rolling in. Meanwhile all the other drivers are looking at me with very puzzled looks as we pass each other and there I am pointing a camera at every little streak of light peeking through the clouds.

This shot turned out to be the best of them all due to the streak of light hitting the small outbuilding on a farm next to the highway with the imposing clouds moving in.

Wrightstown, WI
1/500th second @ f/14 - 800 ISO
Canon 350D/Canon EF 50mm
Medium format film border added in post.
So sue me, I faked it.
It's all about the image anyway.

Dude, that's wicked. Looks like a scene out of any tornado movie. It looks chaotic.

Those clouds are spectacular. I'm curious about how you added the frame border--was it a plug in or did you do in manually?

Very nice, Brad.

We’re getting weather like that here, too. Wednesday night was quite a rush, and it looks like more is brewing for the weekend.

Keep those cameras loaded ;)

very cool picture. I love the mood. I miss those storms! They are seriously one of the biggest draws for me to get back to the midwest. 76 and sunny everyday! BLAH! Give me a good lightening storm and tornado warning!

In the matter of Dorothy Gale, an individual v. Brad Knapp.com, the photoblog, CIVIL ACTION NO. 05-000297-PBS, plaintiff Dorothy Gale I'm sure would comment against the above-mentioned photograph to tell you it's brilliant. ;)

Darren-

what i've been doing is hanging on to my old medium format negatives and then scanning them for border effects when I want that feeling of authenticity that the Canon 350D doesn't offer.

Beautiful effect! Looks like something from the Wizard of Oz film, with the house spinning.
