Walking a snowmobile trail can be a quiet experience until you hear the rumble of snowmobiles in the distance. After a few you get used to standing on the side of the trail while the "sleds" go whipping by.

Then once in a while you hear a very strange roar a long way off. Eventually a big machine like this rumbles by, smoothing out the trails by dragging a series of chains on a big framework.
